Bishop Michael Ivy

As a son of a Pastor, Rev. Michael Ivy has held many positions in the church, including, musician, choir director, minister of music, Sunday school teacher, and deacon.

In 1993, he accepted his calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In August of 1994, he was ordained by his father, Pastor Edicott Ivy, D.D. With a passion for ministry, Rev. Michael Ivy strived to continue his education and has attended Malcolm X College, Chicago Baptist Institute, Apostolic School of Ministry-Bishop Brazier, WHM Ministries, and the Faith works Conference-Bishop Horace Smith. He has a type 12 Certificate from the State Board of Education in Illinois and an Associate of Arts Degree in Theology.

After the home going of his father (the late Rev. Edicott Ivy, D.D.) in 2000, Rev. Michael Ivy was installed as the Pastor of Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church (also known as MBC). In 2002, Pastor Ivy served on the Board of Pastors for P.T.M.A.N (Proviso Township Ministers Alliance Network). In 2004, he served as President of L.C.O.S. (Lawndale Community Outreach Services). In 2008, Pastor Ivy founded Greater Works, Inc., a non-for-profit organization that caters to the needs of the Lawndale community. He currently serves as President. In 2010, Pastor Ivy was appointed Overseer of Freewill Missionary Baptist Church. In 2013, Pastor Ivy was consecrated & installed as Overseer State of Illinois of Everlasting Love Fellowship, Inc.

Bishop Michael Ivy is married to Sandra F. Ivy. They have four children and four grandchildren. Bishop Ivy enjoys reading, traveling, music, sports and comedy. His favorite passage of scripture is:
